EFFECTIVE 2/17: Participants will need to bring their own paints, canvas and tools to painting workshops; clay will be provided for ceramics. All workshop cancellations must be made within 24 hours of event for credit (credits are towards future workshops only).

Deladier Almeida

Saturday, August 9th, 2008 1pm - 5pm - $50

One of the finest figure and portrait painters in the country will hold an optional demonstration from 9am-12pm. After a small break, Almeida will hold his workshop to teach you how to paint figures from a clothed live model, especially how to do a close-up of a head. Every person will also receive a free signed poster! Please bring two of your own small to mid-sized canvases, paint, and easel. There will be a few easels available.

Boyd Gavin

Saturday, September 13th, 2008 1pm - 5pm - $50

This workshop will begin with a brief slide lecture. Then students will paint from a live nude model, focusing on the effective methods of rendering the human form in painting. Particular emphasis will be placed on the structural use of color. We will have a few easels available upon request, but please bring you own, in addition to one canvas of your preference.

Artist Career & Portfolio Workshop

Saturday, September 20th, 2008 1pm - 5pm - $50

This workshop is part one of two, with a more in depth attention on how one can get their career started. Bring one piece of art of any medium for critique. Photographer Michael Trask will be demonstrating how to photograph one's work, as Lauren Collette goes over the production of the postcard for mailing purposes. All artists will learn to market their art and promote themselves, as well as how to choose which exhibitions to enter. Sign up early for this very popular workshop.

Gay Powers

Saturday, September 27th, 2008 1pm - 5pm - $65

As a world-renowned film documentarian, as well as an expert on the life and works of Lee Krasner, this workshop will be a monoprint marathon. As an educator and artist, Powers has the extraordinary ability to show artists how to produce enough monoprints to do a show in one day. Participants do not need to bring anything except for brushes and everyone will leave with a minimum of four monoprints each. Due to material costs, this is a $65 workshop.

Chella

Saturday, October 25th, 2008 1pm - 5pm - $50

One of the greatest plein aire painters of our time, Chella, will be teaching a workshop on the rooftop of the John Natsoulas Center for the Arts to teach the basics of plein aire painting. During this four hour workshop, everyone will complete two or three works. Bring 2 or 3 small canvas boards or small canvases, paint, and an easel. We will have a few easels available upon request.
