A Walk in the Flatlands
Exhibition
January 12 – February 26, 2022
I spent the better part of a pandemic walking daily along Putah Creek and around orchards and farms of rural Northern California with my sidekick, Enzo the red and white dog. The landscape of trees, leaves, shadows, reflections, water ripples, wind, bruise-colored smokey skies, rabbit antics, birds in flight or fighting over a place at the feeder, coyote sightings and a rare fox—it all struck me with its unending variation and beauty. These walks provided a launch pad for my days spent in the studio making these paintings.
I live and work in Winters and Sausalito in Northern California. I studied painting and printmaking at UCDavis with Wayne Thibeaud and Roland Peterson and returned to my work in 2017. Recently I have studied with Fran O’Niell (New York Studio School), and Enrique Martinez Celaya.
