Steven Thomas Higgins: 2019 – 2024, The Sacramento Years

July 10 – August 31, 2024

Opening Reception July 12, 7-9pm

Steven Thomas Higgins achieves incredible texture and colors within his paintings that encapsulate the five years that he spent living in Sacramento. This period in his life afforded him the opportunities to capture the vivid colors inspired by the bright light of the region, and the dappled hues that are so beloved in the City of Trees. The diversity of subjects in the exhibition represents Higgins’ interests in self-reflection and meditation on the experience of daily life. The numerous landscapes are a testament to the powerful scenery that served as the setting of the artist’s life during this eventful era. The impactful Covid-19 Pandemic coincided with Higgins’ Sacramento period, but his response was a profound lyricism and choice to embrace vivacity.
