Opening Reception: Friday, December 12, 2025 7-9PM
“My art is my visual statement. Intending to share my opinions, insight and the results of lessons learned in life, I hope to 'push buttons'; often humorous, sometimes pleasant and if need be unpleasant, depending on your personal point of view. It is my hope to engage the viewer in thought by confronting issues, creating laughter, stirring emotions and looking at things that often get 'swept under the carpet'. You are invited to come take a voyage around 'my room' with me and make the journey a discovery of self you take with you when you leave.”
- Deborah G. Rogers
The John Natsoulas Gallery is thrilled to present the newest exhibition of works by sculptor Deborah G. Rogers, Tales of Sugar Coated Dreams, on view from December 3, 2025 to January 3, 2026.
The opening reception will coincide with the Downtown Davis 2nd Friday ArtAbout
on December 12 from 7-9pm, featuring live music and free refreshments.
This exhibition, displayed on the second floor of the gallery, will celebrate Rogers’ incredible story-telling powers. Her imaginative installation showcases a magical narrative filled with diverse characters within a forest of handmade trees. Her delicate creations, sculpted from clay and mixed media, reflect her interest in painting and drawing. The extensive surface decoration brings the surreal figures to life, as she gives each a distinctive personality. Her lyrical inner vision comes through also through her addition of poetic texts inscribed on many of her works. Inspired by folk art and her own system of symbolism, Rogers invites viewers to enter her world of delight.
